Best Job in the World: Gutted but Getting Over It

You may remember a month ago I blogged about my application for the Best Job in the World. Well, Queensland Tourism and their media partners have chosen their shortlist of 50 (out of around 34000 videos submitted) and unfortunately I wasn’t one of them.
Am I disappointed? Hell, yes!
At the risk of sounding arrogant, I felt I had an excellent chance of reaching the final 50 (even with those odds) for a number of reasons. Primarily:

Outsource Vs Outtask

In May last year the department that I work for was outsourced to another company. This is not an unusual occurrence in the corporate world as you probably know. What was unusual was there was confusion in my old company; the contract was a global one, and locally they had misinterpreted what it said. In short they believed the work we did had been outtasked (out-tasked), rather than outsourced.
