I walk into many small businesses almost on a daily basis and less than 1 in 50 will offer a way that they can stay in touch with me. Every small business should be making their current customers feel like celebrities for shopping with them. The attitude that people walking in the door are just walking wallets is a hangover from the greedy 80′s. Get to know your people by name, face and email address. Send them Christmas cards and birthday greetings, and they will keep coming back.

We’re always quick to shout about bad customer service, so here’s some GOOD for a change.
In the UK we have been experiencing a bunch of postal strikes, and many businesses (including Amazon) have sought out new ways to get mail delivered.
LoveFilm is probably the UK’s biggest internet-based DVD rental company and rely on Royal Mail to deliver their DVDs to customers. Here’s a question, is there somewhere you go because you just love the service you get there?
Today I went to a cafe for breakfast. A cafe that I know is just terrible, but they have all-day-breakfast and you know, maybe they will hit a home run… I mean they can’t be bad all of the time can they?
Well yes they can… they had no sausages for the breakfast, they had no banana for the banana smoothie, they charged me full price even when they didn’t serve what we asked …
