Sometimes you have a massive FAIL. Recently the SWBN ran a competition for a iPod shuffle that crashed and burned big time. We knew it was going to crash as soon as the PMs started coming in saying “ScreenJelly isn’t working for me”. Bummer, a new platform fell over just when we needed it Contingency plan? What contingency plan? Who has contingency plans in times like these… well organised and on-the-ball type businesses that’s who.
So we are scrapping the old competition. It is in the circular filing cabinet, along with our high hopes for ScreenJelly.
Now to move on and try and salvage something because we did not deliver what we said we would. This is the most important part of a set back.Don’t dwell on the negative, see what positive you can create to mitigate the damage (and you are kidding yourself if you don’t think there is any damage). Too many businesses out there don’t get this right. They sweep the facts under the carpet and leave potential customers wondering what-on-earth happened, creating scenarios in their mind and knocking you down on their reputation points scale.
Back to our issue. I have thought and thought, and I can’t devise of a fair way to compensate those who did manage to get an entry in, as opposed to those who really tried but had to give up when it didn’t work. I can’t even identify with any surety who they are….

I was tweeting a lot earlier but for some reason according to the twitter help desk my account keeps getting suspended, unsuspended over and over again. I really really want to win this bc it would be awesome to win this for my mom.
