On Being Unemployable

28 June 2009 by Allison 728 views 4 Comments

My biggest struggle these days is not motivating myself to work on the online businesses I am setting up (don’t get me wrong though, I am no superwoman and some days ARE a struggle). My biggest struggle is being in the office of my day job, performing work that doesn’t inspire me any more. When you make the decision to go where your heart tells you to go, everything else is ashes.

Be aware of this “downer” if you are making the decision to leave your career/current employment as it can really make the days grayer than they already are.

So far I am not sure if I picked a date too far out from when I started working. I am one of those poor souls that do work better with hard and fast deadlines that look almost impossible to achieve. I can self talk myself into putting off till tomorrow what I can do today because I KNOW I have produced miracles in the past and I can do so again in the future (I put a link in FriendFeed the other day about an article that talked about the eternal optimists in the world being the people who get the majority done…yep that would be me).

So I am on the look-out for a personal trainer type. It is work that I have done for others in consultancy, but it doesn’t mean I don’t need it myself (just like a dentist, I know what to do, but it is best if someone else works on your teeth). I need a real seargent major-type to kick my flabby white bum into MORE action because I recognise I need more pressure.

The day job will be rosier when I am achieving more in my other businesses, that I know for sure.

I am in the “Dip” and am looking for a helping push to get out the other side, and as Seth Godin says quite clearly, I must do what it takes to get out of it.

So have you got what it takes to work with me as a bum-kicker?

I would love to help you out Allison but, I am in about the same boat.
The last few weeks I have not gotten done what I need to do. Just can’t get my brain to go in any 1 direction. Maybe it is mid-year blues. I had thought I would have a few more things accomplished by June & it didn’t happen.

So Allison, Get Out of My Dip! There’s not room in here for 2 of us! The world can’t survive without at least 1 of us smartarses out doing something. Go on, get off your flabby white bum & get moving! Don’t make me throw pdf’s at you! I have gas & I will use it to drive you out of this dip! I swear things are gonna get rough if you don’t start moving!

I was just there with the corporate day job while setting up by new business. It was absolute torture to try and stay focused on the un-inspiring day job! Happily I am now FREE and I’m sure I do not have to tell you what a tremendous relief this is. So, with this recent experience and my coach training I would be happy to help kick your butt into gear. See my site for info about me and in case I don’t hear from you, I wish you the best of success!
