Photo Friday: Favorite Flower

10 July 2009 by Barb 470 views No Comment

Life wouldn’t quite be the same without flowers. Here are our personal favorites…

Barb’s Peonies

I used to be a tulip lover…but then I discovered these beauties. Their amazing fragrance can fill a room…I just wish they bloomed for longer than a week or two each year!

I’m going to be difficult (as always) and pick 2 favourite flowers. I absolutely love Tulips and wish they bloomed all year round. There’s just something about their “design” that I adore (honestly, how could anyone suggest that Tulips – or any flower – just evolved and weren’t part of some amazing design?).

But I also love Daisies. I think it’s their simplicity and symmetry. I don’t try to grow daisies as they are one of those plants that are abundant in the wild (you can’t hold them back) but never seem to be happy in a domestic setting (or maybe that’s just my lack of green fingers) but I love seeing them in the wild and always like to have daisy designs on things: jewelry, bedding, hair clips and clothes.

Allison’s Flars

In my vision of my perfect day there is a flower that makes an appearance. It is outside my window where the sun streams in and the native bees buzz happily around it. I can hear the chickens clucking quietly in the yard as they scratch around the flower beds, and there is a dusty but sweet smell in the air, like you get on those still sunny days.

This isn’t my favourite flower, but it is one that means more to me than any other flower.
