Photo Friday: Our Special Pets
This is probably my favourite Photo Friday, because I just love my animals! ~Barb
Barb’s Favourite Trouble Maker
When I was a girl, and well into my teens, my sister and I were horse crazy. Almost every other weekend during the summer was spent competing at horseshows. It was a lot of work but it was a real passion. I was very lucky to have the beautiful horse that I had from age 14 to 18. He was a gorgeous thoroughbred/quarterhorse cross palomino gelding with a beautiful gait and long flowing tail, and he and I won many ribbons and championships together. In some ways, I didn’t consider him a pet; he was really like a partner, since we had to work together to achieve everything we did. But he was definitely the love of my life during those years. His name was “Here Comes Trouble”, but we just called him Trouble, and he lived up to that name plenty of times LOL. Wish I had a better photo, but all the good ones are packed away in storage. He was one of those animals that comes along once in a lifetime, and I’ll never forget him…
Lisa’s Inanimate Animal
I come from a family where we always had at least a few pets at any one time. But, since I left my family home I’ve never owned a pet – not even a fish! I suppose I feel my lifestyle means I wouldn’t be able to give them the care and attention they need (plus, I’m a bit squeamish about bodily functions, and don’t want to have to deal with poop and vomit)!
I don’t have any pictures of my childhood pets that are easily accessible so here’s about as close as I get to having a pet these days.
Meet Badger….
Actually, Badger is more of a friend and house guest than a pet, in fact here he is enjoying Christmas dinner and pulling a cracker.
He is staying with me in between travelling the world, before he heads back to work as Travel Badger (you can make friends with him on Facebook)
