The Art of the Short Blog Post

16 June 2009 by Lisa 495 views No Comment

I’ve had 2 very interesting chats with Susan Lewis over the past week (we were recording an interview for the SWBN podcast, and unfortunately the first time I messed up the recording – these things happen and thankfully Susan was gracious enough to re-record it with me). After each interview we had those conversations that you inevitably wish were being recorded.

Susan and I readily admit to being quite verbose, and unforunately for me that is the case with my writing as well. I have never had much trouble writing articles and blog posts, but being able to write concisely and make my point succinctly is something I continue to strive for. The topic came up because Susan has spent the last 6 months studying with Seth Godin, who is a master at writing daily blog posts that are pertinent, thoughtful, and usually profound – and never ramble or use more space on the page than is required to make the point.

So, expect more posts from me where I try to hone this skill. I’m unlikely to ever be as skilled as Seth Godin, or offer such deep insights, but I like lofty goals!
