Twitter for Children this Christmas

25 November 2008 by Lisa 1,380 views 13 Comments

Our friend Sheryl Loch (she of the long – but great quality – blog comments) recently wrote a blog post called Twitter for Children at Christmas, spurred on by a Tweet from Sharon McPherson.

The original Tweet was: “Hoping that Twitter moms can create the same type of impact in favor of Toys for Tots as they did against Motrin http://www.toysfortots.org

Sheryl thought what a great idea it would be to channel some of that community power into doing something positive this Christmas to help others. She suggested we write a post and include the equivalent charities from our own countries (Canada, UK and Australia), encouraging folks to buy a toy for a child who might not be seeing much (if anything) in their stocking this Christmas.

Internet marketers are a generous bunch of people so I’m sure you all have your favourite charities this Christmas already. But if you are still looking for some way of giving this festive season, why not buy an extra toy when you are Christmas shopping and donate it to the Toys for Tots charity (if you are in the US) or one these charities if you are in the UK, Australia or Canada:

We all have our own Christmas traditions and for some that involves a favourite charity or charitable event. If you don’t have one yet, then we’d love you to consider giving to one of these as your new Christmas tradition. If you already have a favourite charity you donate to as part of your Christmas giving, then feel free to add it to the comments below.

Either way, we’d love you to Twitter for Children this Christmas (#TFC) and help support some of these wonderful schemes.

Thank you.
