This week’s Cool Tool comes courtesy of Allison Reynolds, during one of our pre/post Trouble with Freedom recording chats (they’re usually longer than the actual podcasts).
Allison is a total fonts fiend. Now, I like a nice font as much as the next person, but when it comes to websites I’m just happy if it gets a bit more adventurous than Times New Roman. I hadn’t even heard of Google Web Fonts (yet ANOTHER Google Cool Tool).
Allison was setting up a new site and wanted to be adventurous with her fonts. She discovered there are a number of plugins available for WordPress that allow you to use your selection of Google fonts on your website (like WP Google Fonts) which really open up the possibilities for font fans.
One problem she did encounter was that she was using a paid theme that offers a small selection of fonts and so overwrites the ability to change them to any others, but most themes will not do that.
While I can appreciate the love some of you have for fonts, I’m going to let you test this one…I’m sticking with Tahoma and Georgia
